About us
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayer.” Acts 2:42
(The Holy Bible)
Who we are
We are a company of Christians who meet together in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We follow New Testament teachings and meet each Sunday to remember the Lord Jesus Christ and the great work of Salvation that He accomplished for us on the cross. Christians have met together in this manner, as a local assembly, in Hanslope for over 100 years.
In addition to our regular meetings, we hold weekly and special Gospel meetings at which the message of salvation through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is presented. We also have weekly children’s, Bible study, ministry and prayer meetings.
We would be delighted if you could attend any of our meetings. You will be made most welcome and you will not be asked to contribute to any collection.
Please feel free to email us if you have any questions or would like further information about becoming a Christian or about Christian teachings. We have various publications from time to time which we would be happy to send to you free of charge. Some current titles include:
1. Which way to God?
2. Ultimate questions
3. God, how can we get in touch?
4. God, how did it all begin?
5. God, who is He?
6. Safety, certainty and enjoyment
We would also be happy to send you a copy of the Bible, a New Testament or a Gospel of John.
What we believe
-
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and unchangeable Word of God. It sets out God's plan of salvation for mankind and provides guidance for our daily lives. It is relevant and sufficient to meet all our needs.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16 -
We believe that mankind is born in a sinful condition and that our sin separates us from God. If we die in this condition we will bear the righteous punishment of God throughout eternity in the place called Hell.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 -
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He became a man in order that He might die as a substitute for sinners. By dying, the Lord Jesus Christ bore the punishment that we deserved for our sins - He took our place. The Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead three days after His death and is now seated at the right hand of God in heaven.
"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high." Hebrews 1:1-3 -
We believe that salvation and deliverance from the power and penalty of sin can only be obtained through repentance and faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. Only those that have personally accepted God's salvation will be in Heaven.
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12 -
We believe that those who have been saved should be baptised and meet together as a local church, gathered in the name of the Lord Jesus according to the pattern taught in the New Testament.
"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayer." Acts 2:42
